Meditation as A Medicine for Various Diseases

 Meditation promotes physical as well as mental fitness. Since most of the diseases are not just physical, but also mental, meditation can help a person find a more wholesome cure for themselves. In a paper published in the well-known medical journal – Behavioural Medicine, a study by eminent medical professionals showed that meditation has a general positive effect on psychological and physiological health. The Research Body from Santa Clara University has linked meditation to improved conditions for serious ailments, from diabetes to heart diseases to cancer. According to them, this is possible by “treating the whole person… so they can live in greater health and joy.” Both mindfulness and spiritual meditation can be practised to effectuate its benefits. Here are a few of the diseases for which meditation is a medicine.

Mental Health: With the help of meditation, people can improve their standing in life and their mental health. This will directly contribute towards their well-being, both physically and mentally. It can also make sure that they live a longer life.

Pain: One thing that is common to all diseases is the pain. With the help of meditation, people will be able to increase their threshold of pain. Meditation to cure diseases and the pain caused by them, such as arthritis, spondylitis, etc. has been proven.

Cancer: Meditation can improve the condition of cancer patients. Since it promotes mental calm and also extends the pain threshold of a person, it becomes easier for cancer patients to deal with their pain.
